"There is nothing untouched. Nothing unfelt. Nothing pure anymore." I said "How does that realisation make you feel?"

He sighs "I dunno, somewhere, deep down, I genuinly believe that this person IS the real me." he pauses "But offcourse I can never be sure of that! Nor will I ever be able to prove it. Or Otherwise for that matter!" He sips at his drink "I just cannot imagine why people don't share their motivations!" he says as he looks into the horizon.

"Maybe it is just because they don't know it either...." I try to explain "....and that any attempt of explaining what they do not know will deteriorate their belief in that idea! An idea which they have based all their decisions, and their life for that matter, upon." I raise my glass so I can point my index finger at him and continue "An idea SO strong, that they will do anything to perserve it, even though they fully understand how wrong, unfair and immoral it is."

He laughs "I cannot imagine a life like that! I don't know how such life can be sustained at all."

"Don't forget; They do not see this as a flaw, but more as a virtue!" I say "And maybe we should be jealous of those who have these 'virtues', don't you think?"
